Transfer Bulk Systems, Inc. (TBS) is part of the history behind Carmeuse Systems. As one of the earlier brands in the company’s evolution, TBS helped support the expansion of pneumatic conveying and dry bulk material handling solutions in the United States. Today, that legacy continues under the unified Carmeuse Systems brand.

Supporting Customers from the Early Years

Carmeuse Systems has been designing and engineering high-quality pneumatic conveying systems and equipment solutions since 1970. In those early years, the business operated under the name Semco Systems Limited, serving customers primarily in the food and mineral processing industries across North America.

At the time, Semco Systems Limited was headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, and utilized its wholly owned subsidiary, Transfer Bulk Systems Corp., to serve the US market. In June 1990, Transfer Bulk Systems, Inc. (TBS) was established to further serve the U.S. market.

This expansion helped strengthen the company’s North American footprint and broaden support for customers requiring reliable bulk material handling and pneumatic conveying solutions.

Growth, Alignment, and Brand Evolution

Over time, the parent company expanded through acquisitions and organizational changes designed to align business units and strengthen capabilities. During this process, the Transfer Bulk Systems name was retired as the broader business continued to consolidate under new identities.

The parent organization later became known as Semcan Inc., and then STT Enviro Corp. as the business evolved and brought together additional expertise and offerings.

In 2017, STT Enviro Corp. was acquired by Carmeuse, the global lime and limestone manufacturer. In 2024, the business was fully integrated and renamed Carmeuse Systems, bringing together decades of experience under a single unified brand.
