Our company grew through several acquisitions over its 50-year history, ultimately becoming Carmeuse Systems in 2024. These milestones enabled us to better meet the needs of our customers by expanding our engineering capabilities and enhancing our system offerings. One of the most significant milestones along this journey was the formation and later evolution of Semcan Inc.
The Formation of Semcan Inc.
Since the early 1970s, our business has been designing pneumatic conveying systems and equipment under the name Semco Systems Limited. In 2000, the parent company’s name was changed to Semcan Inc., marking an important step in the company’s growth and alignment.
In the years that followed, the company acquired Stanco Projects Ltd. and the ZMI Portec division of The Conveyor Company. These acquisitions enhanced our capabilities by adding specialized system integration and lime slaking expertise to our range of offerings.
Growth, Evolution, and Integration
In the early 2010s, Semcan Inc. continued to operate from its headquarters in Milton, Ontario. In February 2013, the company underwent a rebranding and became STT Enviro Corp., further aligning its business units and expanding its capabilities.
In 2017, STT Enviro Corp. was acquired by Carmeuse, the global lime and limestone manufacturer. This acquisition marked a key milestone in aligning system engineering expertise with raw material and process knowledge.
In 2024, the business was fully integrated into the Carmeuse organization and renamed Carmeuse Systems, bringing together decades of experience under a single unified brand.
