Dust Control & Filters
Dust Collector Cartridge Filters
Dust control in your facility is a critical part of ensuring the cleanliness and safety of your operation and selecting the correct dust filter is key for reaching peak performance from your dust collection system. Selecting the wrong type of filter can result in your system running inefficiently, excess contaminants being released, and could potentially cause damage to other equipment in your plant. We make it our priority to understand your equipment and your application so we can confidently recommend the right solution that best addresses your specific filter needs.
Carmeuse Systems is committed to supporting your ongoing maintenance needs with a complete offering of dust collector replacement filters and parts for most manufacturers’ dust collectors. Available in a variety of media options and sizes, our product experts can help you determine the best media for your replacement challenges. In addition to our pleated cartridge replacement filters, Carmeuse Systems offers you the following dust filtration solutions.

PTFE Laminated Cartridge Filter
The PTFE laminated spunbonded 100% polyester cartridge filter consists of a membrane of PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) laminated over a spunbonded polyester substrate that results in a microporous surface. Providing 99.99% efficiency at 0.2 to 2 micron, it is the ideal choice for ultra-fines and/or high moisture conditions and applications requiring high collection efficiency. This PTFE laminated filter has a MERV rating of 16 and a temperature rating of 200 °F [93 °C] (in a continuous operation) resulting in better filter efficiency and longer filter life. The open pleat structure offers more filter media than standard filter bags reducing the number of filters your system requires and saving you time and money. In addition to the ease of changing out the filter, using this cartridge filter in your dust collection system makes it a safe and reliable emissions solution.
Spunbonded Cartridge Filter
The spunbonded 100% polyester cartridge is the ideal choice for applications where exceptional dust release, excellent abrasion-resistance and high strength are required. It is suitable for pneumatic conveying and a wide variety of dust capture applications (including food grade applications). This cartridge filter has a MERV rating of 10 and a temperature rating of 200 °F [93 °C] (in a continuous operation) resulting in longer filter life. The open pleat structure offers more filter media than standard filter bags reducing the number of filters your system requires saving you time and money. In addition to the ease of changing out the filter, using this cartridge filter in your dust collection system makes it a safe and reliable emissions solution.

FAQs
A cartridge dust collector or a bin vent filter is designed to vent displaced air from storage silos or bins during filling by a pneumatic or mechanical convey system. While venting displaced air, it prevents dust particles and other harmful products from being emitted into the atmosphere or surrounding environment.
This dust collector uses a pleated cartridge filter instead of bags. Because the filters are pleated, they have a larger total filtering surface area per cubic feet per minute (CFM), which reduces the air-to-cloth ratio and the overall size of the collector. The open pleat structure offers more filter media than standard filter bags reducing the number of filters your system requires saving you time and money.
Cartridge dust collectors are cleaned by a set of reverse pulse jets that activate sequentially to clean material off the filters using compressed air and blow the dust particulates back into the storage silo or bin.
Carmeuse Systems offers the following two types of cartridge filters made of the following substrates:
- The PTFE laminated spunbonded 100% polyester cartridge filter consists of a membrane of PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) laminated over a spunbonded polyester substrate that results in a microporous surface.
- The spunbonded 100% polyester cartridge filter is made of a spunbonded polyester substrate which is a high strength media composition making it durable and long lasting.
Filter cartridges need to be changed before they become plugged. Many operating plants schedule a change out of their dust collector filters on an annual basis. Some sites, with difficult to handle materials, schedule these changes twice per year.
How often you need to change your filter cartridges will depend on the number of product deliveries that your plant receives. A site that receives six deliveries per day will have to change out their dust collector filters more often than a site that receives one delivery every two weeks.
These filters should also be changed out when the normal built in cleaning cycle, whether reverse pulse jet or shaker, does not adequately clean these filters.
