Successful Lime Injection System Installation at SDI Pittsboro

Carmeuse Systems is proud to announce the installation of state-of-the-art high calcium and dolomitic lime injection systems for Steel Dynamics, Inc. at their Pittsboro, IN location. The installations highlight Carmeuse Systems’ dedication in providing comprehensive lime injection systems and demonstrates SDI’s ongoing leadership in embracing and implementing innovative technologies at its facilities. Made possible through the collaboration of Carmeuse Systems and the Performance Materials business of Schenck Process Food and Performance Materials, which recently rebranded to Coperion, the project combines lime handling, pneumatic conveying, and dense phase lime injection to deliver a complete solution.

“Lime must meet specifications to flow well in a lime injection system, but traditionally in the market, that range has been very limited. Our solution provides more flexibility,” shared Dean Salloch, Manager of Applications for Carmeuse Systems, “By allowing for more variance with gradation, our system can more effectively transfer lime to the furnace and reduce the risk of plugging, even with the material degradation that comes with shipping lime to site.” Overall, Carmeuse Systems and Coperion technologies help ensure accurate, reliable, and uninterrupted lime supply.

Our experienced technicians, engineers, and implementation teams worked closely with the SDI team from design to start-up of the new EAF lime injection system.
