Magnesium oxide (MgO) is a dry powder often used in industrial applications for silica removal and pH adjustment. When mixed with water to form a slurry, magnesium oxide begins to hydrate in a reaction producing magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2). For some applications, magnesium oxide (MgO) slurries are more effective when the MgO slakes in the downstream reactor instead of the mix tank. Understanding the factors that impact the rate of this reaction, including water temperature, mixing speed, retention time, and system design, can help ensure that you are getting the most effective use of MgO slurry for a given process.

Our Magnesium Oxide Feed System is comprised of a storage silo for magnesium oxide, a volumetric feeder, and a control system for the efficient mixing of magnesium oxide slurry. The three-piece modular design includes a 12 ft. storage silo with a bin vent filter and a slurry make down/storage tank with mixer module.
Our pre-engineered Magnesium Oxide Feed System has a 12’ square footprint and can deliver up to 2.500 lb/hr of magnesium oxide with the following components:
- Welded Silo (12’ in diameter)
- Bin Vent Dust Collection system
- Volumetric Feeder
